Women of Our Saviour Lutheran Church

The women's group at Our Saviour is very active and involved in many areas of church and community life. We are a community of women committed to nurturing our faith and spiritual strength to enable us to be people of God in mission.

We meet monthly and begin with an inspirational bible study. The business meeting that follows is short and informal with plenty of time for fellowship.

Monthly free-will offerings and other of our activities enable us to carry out our congregational, community and international projects, such as Richmond's transition house for women and children, Richmond Food Bank, LUMS; world-wide needs such as Canadian Lutheran World Relief, and local congregational needs including those of our youth.

Each year we make quilts, layettes, and sewing kits to be sent overseas, as well as quilts for the near-homeless in our own area.  We knit mittens, hats and scarves for needy children in the winter. Our quilters gather most Tuesday mornings in the spring and fall for fellowship and to assemble these quilts and comforters.

The women of our congregation gather monthly for breakfast, sometimes at a local restaurant and sometimes at the church with a guest speaker.

We invite all women of our congregation to participate in our activities.

Our Bible Study and short business meeting are held the 2nd Thursday morning of every month (except July, Aug and Dec) at 10.00 am at the church (Fireside Room). Please check the calendar section for specific dates of meetings and your Sunday bulletins for information on quilting dates.

ELW?  Our national organization, Evangelical Lutheran Women Inc. (ELW) has disbanded, as has the Esprit magazine, in 2010. ELW’s website will be available until mid-2011 for national information.

We celebrate the twenty-plus years that we have been part of ELW, and acknowledge the participation and contributions of ELW women from across Canada.

The women of Our Saviour continue to meet as “Lutheran Church Women” for Bible Study and are active in congregational, community, and international projects.
